It seems WordPress doesn’t support the shoutbox HTML…
Is it okay to not have one? Or is that a deal breaker?
Hmmm

Video game music that…doesn’t sound like videogame music
Most of these games I’ve never played- but the music rocks.^_^ This post was dramaticly shortened by a glitch in wordpress. Opps.>.>
SoA, Prologue: Page 3 (finally:P)
Well, sorry about the (extra)long wait on this one. I couldn’t do ANY drawing last week, with my swimming championships taking up the whole weekend.
Personal critique on my new page:
Enter Alphonso. Meet the signature hair flick. You’ll be seeing a lot of this particular peculiar mannerism.:P
You notice the lack of stars? I just did too.^^
My lines aren’t as clean in this one as I normally expect from myself. I sacrificed a bit of quality to get it out today.>.> The next page might be even longer in comming.:P I’ve got a filler page(or two) planned to keep you busy until I’m done doing a little more writing and storyboarding.

As always, not totally pleased with it, but posting for the sake of progress.:P

Someday
So, I want to set myself a deadline for the next comic page- tomorrow(monday) evening. I’m terrible with deadlines, but I’ll try it again. With the swimmeet this weekend, I didn’t get any drawing done…
Uhg…too tired to write much more…

Let’s Play-erImean Review Iji (first impressions)
I’ve played the first few levels, or “Sectors”, of the game now, so I guess I’ll give a list of first impressions.
(First: content)
Probably around Everyone 10+ for mild blood, language, and scary themes(I’m very conservative in my ratings. Most ten year olds have seen and heard much…much worse then this)
Language: 2/5
Its about PG level, so far it doesn’t seem too bad.
Sexual themes: 2/5
The only reason I’m giving this a two is because I saw something weird further into the game on a youtube “Let’s Play” video. Its probably not something you would notice if it wasn’t pointed out to you. Otherwise: its a 16 bit style game, not much to see.
Violence: 2/5
Of course, even 16 bit games can get violent, and suggestive, trust me, I know from painful experience. The violence factor isn’t too high here. There is a little bit of alien blood, and some fairly hard to see human blood, and that’s it. The themes are pretty serious, featuring lots of fighting and war, and stuff, but its not any worse then say, Lord of the Rings or Pirates of the Caribbean.
Bad Religion: variable(?)
As far as I can see, there are multiple ways of beating the game, and multiple endings.
You can play complete pacifist-style, and not kill a single one of the invaders.
Or you can go berserk and wipe out even the aliens that could help you.
Or you can go somewhat in-between by killing the invaders and getting the higher alien race’s support.
I honestly don’t know yet what the “right” path is, or if there even is one that is completely right. Simply leaving everybody alone doesn’t seem right, but going on a rampage isn’t either. We’ll see if the game’s morals hold up in war or not…
(Now for the gameplay stuff:)
Play control: 4/5
Its a solid control scheme, but there are a few things that are annoying.
When your character moves, making the screen scroll in either direction, everything gets slightly fuzzy and it makes my eyes hurt.
You can only fire when you’re on the ground. This is kind of explained by the fact that hero herself says the gun is nearly to heavy for her to hold properly. But it still makes for some awkward situations in battle. I find myself constantly jumping and pressing the fire button, not getting a response, and getting shot by a Tasen for my troubles. You also can’t aim. You can only fire in the direction you are facing. Its not a huge problem, and it doesn’t affect you in battle much, but it would make things a WHOLE lot easier.
Music: 3.75/5
It all seems to fit the mood of each scene, and I like how it changes subtly in different parts of the stage. But can’t we get some different music for each sector?!
Plot: 3.75/5
Its really interesting so far. Not much to say yet, since I haven’t gotten very far.
Sound Effects: 4/5
The gun fire sound effects sound really good. The limited voice acting(when your enemies are about to fire they say “Hold it!” in raspy reptilian voices.^_^ Also, Iji will say “I’m sorry…” when she kills anything at the start of the game.) was also a really nice touch. I didn’t expect that from a freeware game.
Graphics: 4/5
Before you look at my rating and start saying that its too generous, that the game’s graphics don’t compare with anything on the market today, let me remind you: it was made by one person. Alone. And its free. No strings attached. When you look at it that way, you can really appreciate the finer details of the backgrounds and cutscenes. Its not Cave Story level art, but its really good.
Difficulty: 2/5
So far its pretty easy, but there’s a lot of extras, so you’ll probably find some decent challenge.
Replay Value: Good(?)
There are about five difficulty settings, and playing through each unlocks something new. Don’t know if the game is FUN enough to go through that many times, though. We’ll see…

Let’s Reveiw: Iji
I found a decent looking game. I will now play it. I will probably reveiw it later. Look forward to it.
Or else.>.<
